Verizon Wireless is one of the largest and most reputable cellular providers in the United States. Verizon has approximately 94.1 Million subscribers. There are three models of Blackberry available from Verizon, the Storm2 9550, the Curve 3G 9330 and the Bold 9650. The Blackberry Bold 9650 is popular amongst both the corporate and young adult sectors. This is due to the robust, compact and practical design. Read on to find out more about the Bold 9650.

Bold 9650's overview:

Excellent physical QWERTY keyboard
3.2 mega pixel camera
6.5 hours of talk time (13 days of standby time)
GPS enabled
Blackberry Operating System (OS) 6 pre-installed

The Bold is a highly geared to the corporate market and as a result has had a great response in this sector. This is largely due to the well-designed QWERTY keyboard, Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES), strong security and the robust nature of the Bold. In addition, the Bold has proved to be a popular choice amongst younger users. This is largely due to Blackberry Messenger (BBM), a great way for you to stay in touch with your friends no matter where they are in the world via the Blackberry instant messenger app. This app is free, pre-installed on the phone and is exclusive to Blackberry's RIM operating systems.

The QWERTY keyboard is much loved and a defining feature of the Bold. It is well designed with the keys slightly raised and well positioned to allow for quick and easy typing. This keyboard has a good tactile feel. Physical keyboards are still the fastest way to type as you are able to feel the keys, and there is no time taken to load the keyboard. The 3.2 mega pixel camera is adequate on this phone and takes good pictures. However, this is not a reason to buy this phone. If having a high quality camera is an important feature, an Android phone is probably best as they have up to 8 mega pixel cameras. The HTC ThunderBolt 4G is a good option if this is the case. Similarly web browsing is not a highlight of the Bold. However, in conjunction with the new operating system (OS) 6 the browsing is reasonable. The Bold is built to run on 3G networks. Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) is positive feature of Blackberry that runs smoothly on the Bold. BES enables you to sync your work emails, calendar, contacts, etc in a secure, simple manner. Some of the other operating systems like iOS and Android are catching up in this area, however, RIM still leads the way in this respect and for many corporate users this is the primary reason for sticking with Blackberry and in most cases the Bold.

The Blackberry Curve is a very similar phone to the Bold; however, it is slightly cheaper and as a result less equipped. The Curve works well, though occasionally freezes under heavy use. For the extra 50 Dollars I would recommend the Bold's premier steel finishes and faster operating system. It is worth noting that the Blackberry Bold Touch 9930 is due to be launch towards the end of the year. The 9930 will be running the new OS 7 and will have a 'liquid graphic' touch screen display. The 9930 will be the first Blackberry to have 4G connectivity. The 9930 has impressive feature - 1.2 GHz processor, 8 GB of local storage, 2.8 inch 640 x 480 touch screen, 5 megapixel camera, and mobile hotspot capabilities. The new Bold 9930 is a phone to watch out for in the future. Currently the Bold 9650 is the premier Blackberry phone from Verizon.
